Have you ever had the irresistible urge to amble the streets while belligerently drunk on a blustery winter day all while dressed as good Ol’ St. Nick? If you have, then don’t be surprised if you find yourself on the naughty list this year. For its 2017 holiday release Crew Cuts, in collaboration with DiMassimo Goldstein, is releasing a tongue-in-cheek PSA highlighting the dangers of SantaCon.
The Anti-SantaCon campaign features downloadable posters, collectible buttons, an informative website, a series of gifs, and a moving PSA that shows the real victims of SantaCon: the children. For the uninitiated, SantaCon is an annual gathering of thousands of Christmas themed revelers (dressed as Santa or as Santa-adjacent as possible) bar crawling through the streets of major cities all across America. The event has the usual amount of debauchery and destruction one can expect from letting loose a horde of raging, drunk twenty-somethings in a metropolis. All through the day adults and children alike are subjected to dodging projectiles (bodily or otherwise), avoiding passed out Santas in the street, and shielding their eyes from questionable behavior between “elves” and “reindeer.” In order to protect the public from such depravity, Crew Cuts urges you to please #sitoutsantacon.
Crew cuts produced, directed, shot, edited, and conformed the spot in addition to creating the GIF deliverables for social media. Crew Cuts has 16 offline editors, 4 directors as well as an entire finishing department consisting of motion graphics, audio mix & design, final conform & deliverables and color correction.
